Germany’s Interior Minister, Nancy Faeser, has taken a bold step by banning the right-wing extremist magazine Compact and its publishing company, Conspect Film GmbH. Those who defy this ban will face serious legal consequences. Recent raids on the publication’s offices and the homes of its leaders and shareholders in several German states have sent a strong message.
Described as the “central mouthpiece of the right-wing extremist scene” by the Ministry of the Interior, Compact is accused of spreading hateful rhetoric towards Jews, immigrants, and democratic values. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has also labeled Compact as a right-wing extremist organization, citing its promotion of anti-democratic and dehumanizing ideologies.
