Reports indicate that the FSB conducted a search at the editorial office of the Karelian publication “Stolitsa na Onego.” This action was authorized by a resolution issued on July 30.
The search at the editorial office is connected to previous searches of journalist Valery Potashov, who was associated with “Stolitsa na Onego.” Tatyana Sokolova, the chief editor, stated to “Karelia.News”:
“We were notified that this pertains to Valery Potashov, a former employee. While officially termed as an examination, we refer to it as searches. Despite this, our editorial work continues uninterrupted.”
Valery Potashov, who remains in Russia, collaborates with various publications, some of which are labeled as “foreign agents.” On August 1, he was scheduled to participate in a court hearing regarding the recognition of Finnish actions in Karelia as genocide. Simultaneously, the FSB of Karelia issued warnings of potential “treason” charges against journalists producing “anti-Russian content” for foreign entities during the hearings.
