At the Russian-Lithuanian border, alleged Ukrainian spies were apprehended by the FSB while trying to enter Russia. The FSB revealed that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MOU) had been assigned to gather information on the security of the border for potential illegal activities within Russian territory.
According to reports, a Ukrainian citizen was instructed by GUR to collect data through interviews and technical surveillance in Lithuanian border regions. Despite their efforts, GUR operatives were intercepted while attempting an unauthorized border crossing. They now face charges under article 276 of the Criminal Code for espionage.
The FSB also mentioned a secondary objective involving the abduction and unlawful transport across borders of a minor Russian citizen whose father works for GUR MOU.
Although it is unclear how many individuals were captured, a video released by RIA Novosti shows three men with obscured faces.
