Foreign-born employees are driving growth in the American workforce

Help Wanted: Immigrants fueling U.S. workforce

The U.S. job ‌market is thriving‌ post-pandemic, thanks in part to the strength ⁤of⁣ immigrant workers. With an aging American workforce and low birth rates, experts emphasize the vital role immigrants play in driving future economic growth.

In 2023, immigrant workers accounted for a record 18.6% of the workforce, according‌ to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. They are filling crucial roles in⁣ agriculture, technology,‌ and healthcare, where ⁣finding qualified workers has been a challenge.

Despite a lower-than-expected⁣ job growth in April, the labor force participation rate for⁤ foreign-born workers increased slightly to 66%.

“With a declining birth rate and insufficient labor⁤ force participation, immigrant workers are not taking jobs but rather contributing to⁤ the growth ⁤and resilience ‍of the economy by filling essential roles,” said experts.
