In a recent court filing, it was revealed that Shawn Fain is currently under investigation by a federal court-appointed watchdog. This watchdog, Neil Barofsky, is responsible for overseeing the union and ensuring there is no corruption.
The investigation is looking into allegations that Fain misused his authority as the union president. Additionally, there are claims that Fain and other union leaders have been hindering the investigation and obstructing access to crucial information.
These actions could potentially breach a consent decree from 2020 between the UAW and the U.S. Department of Justice, which aimed to prevent a federal intervention in the union.
