Is it time to consider impeachment for everyone?
WILLIAM BELKNAP holds the unfortunate distinction of being the sole cabinet official in American history to undergo a congressional impeachment. Belknap, who served as the secretary of war under Ulysses S. Grant, was impeached by the House of Representatives in 1876 for engaging in corrupt practices. Fast forward to the present day, and there are talks of impeaching Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, for his oversight of immigration policy. However, the chances of this actually happening are slim, given the political dynamics and the high threshold for conviction in the Senate.
