Additionally, not everyone has‌ the time, money, ⁢or ability to join a gym or use specialized equipment. However, as‍ Stamatakis suggests, you don’t need⁣ to. Everyday activities such as biking‍ to the grocery store, raking leaves, or playing‍ soccer with your kids all count.
There is still much for scientists to uncover, such as how the benefits of physical⁤ activity affect the body and how to motivate ⁤people to incorporate movement into their daily ‍lives. However, one conclusion ⁣is clear,⁣ according to I-Min Lee, an epidemiologist at Harvard‍ Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in⁣ Boston: “Any physical activity is better than none.”
For Lee, the key is ⁢finding an‍ activity‍ that you enjoy. This can​ make the difference between getting off the ⁢couch or remaining sedentary.​ “The best physical activity,” she says, “is something that you will do and stick with.”
