The impact of industrial growth and increased⁤ consumption on the ⁤environment worldwide has led to a‍ rise in ‍emissions, waste, and pollution from⁤ landfills.

The traditional linear economic model, ⁤which ⁣follows a “take-make-dispose”‌ approach to resources, is proving to be unsustainable.

New Zealand’s food manufacturing sector plays a significant role in these environmental challenges. However, there is hope in adopting a circular economic model ‌that promotes sustainability.

We have delved⁤ into ⁢the practices of six major food manufacturing companies ⁢in Aotearoa New Zealand that⁣ are ‍dedicated to embracing circular-economy principles. Our goal was to assess their focus on reducing, reusing,⁣ recycling, and recovering materials.

Various ‍factors such as consumer awareness, government ⁤policies, supply chain complexities, and ⁤financial‌ investments influence the adoption of circular practices within these‍ companies.

our findings ‍reveal that ⁣New Zealand food manufacturers are slow in ‍transitioning towards ‍circularity. There‌ is a lack of understanding about circular processes as the traditional linear model‍ continues to dominate.
