Discovering the Mysterious Pilbara Ant: A New Species Named in Honor of Voldemort

A recent research conducted at The University of Western Australia has⁢ brought to light a previously unknown species of underground ant that bears resemblance to ‌a famous character from⁢ the ⁤Harry Potter series.

Dr. Mark Wong, the lead scientist and a Forrest Fellow at UWA’s School of Biological Sciences, named ‍this ant L. voldemort,⁤ as a nod to the infamous dark wizard Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter books.

Dr. Wong pointed out the⁤ eerie similarities between ⁤the formidable foes in⁢ Harry Potter and this‌ new ant species, both characterized ⁣by⁤ their ethereal and slender‌ figures, lurking in⁢ the shadows.

This unique ant species was stumbled upon during a survey of ‌the wildlife inhabiting the subterranean realms of the arid Pilbara region in Western‍ Australia’s north.

Dr. ‍Wong mentioned that only a pair of specimens of this ant were located, retrieved using a net lowered down a 25-meter drill hole and carefully scraped off⁢ the inner walls ‌of the hole.
