It’s never too early to start planning for the next solar eclipse. The mechanics behind any eclipse are fascinating, driven by the Earth’s and moon’s motions. This predictability allows for the precise mapping of upcoming solar eclipses. Science News used NASA’s “Five millennium canon of solar eclipses” database to create an interactive map of solar eclipses from 2000 B.C. to A.D. 3000. This database includes nearly 12,000 solar eclipses, with approximately 3,200 being total eclipses. Instead of showing all of them, we focus on the tracks of the next 15 total solar eclipses, from 2024 to 2044.
