Legendary Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second individual to set foot on the Moon, stated he had married his longtime girlfriend on Friday, his 93rd birthday.
Aldrin and Anca Faur, govt vp of Buzz Aldrin Ventures, have been wed in a non-public ceremony.
“On my 93rd birthday… I’m happy to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I’ve tied the knot,” Aldrin tweeted together with photos of himself and Faur, who’s reportedly 63.
“We have been joined in holy matrimony in a small non-public ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping youngsters.”
According to her LinkedIn profile, Faur earned a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996 and had beforehand labored for Union Carbide and Johnson Matthey earlier than becoming a member of Buzz Aldrin Ventures. She had additionally served as treasurer for the California Hydrogen Business Council.
Aldrin’s three earlier marriages led to divorce.
The US astronaut is the final surviving member of the Apollo 11 mission, throughout which he and Neil Armstrong develop into the primary folks to set foot on the Moon, on July 20, 1969.
