At military unit No. 12721 in Klintsy, Bryansk region, soldiers who were stationed near the border of Kursk region during the Ukrainian Armed Forces breakthrough confirmed that many of their comrades had been captured by the Ukrainian side. The publication “Layout” spoke with Senior Lieutenant Alexey Chernov, responsible for locating missing servicemen in the unit, who did not disclose the exact number of prisoners or how many were conscripts.
When asked about the reported capture of 102 Russian prisoners in Kursk region the day before, Chernov hinted that there were actually more captives than initially stated.
“The number is currently less than 102. We need to verify information through statements or reports from relatives or fellow servicemen identifying a missing soldier. This process determines whether they are classified as prisoners or missing. Right now, my focus is on around a hundred individuals as I gather more details,” Chernov explained.
Chernov clarified that he does not handle conscript soldiers directly.
“While some conscripts may fall under my jurisdiction, I cannot provide updates on all individuals – their whereabouts and status remain unknown to me. The Ministry of Defense has established a hotline specifically for conscript soldiers; please refrain from contacting me as my phone line has been disconnected,” Chernov emphasized.
Attempts to contact Military Unit Commander Petr Bryntsev, 488th Regiment Commander Vitaly Bobryshev, and other officers were unsuccessful according to “Layout”.
