Boris Johnson has expressed his support for Donald Trump ahead of the upcoming US presidential election, stating that his return to the White House could be exactly what the world needs.
In his regular column for the Daily Mail, the former prime minister argued that Trump’s backing of Ukraine in its conflict with Russia could be a significant global victory.
However, Trump’s wavering commitment to supporting Ukraine and his close ties with Russian president Vladimir Putin have raised concerns.
Despite Trump’s previous criticisms of Nato and his claims about ending Russia’s war on Ukraine, Johnson remains optimistic about Trump’s potential to strengthen the western world and global stability.
The Ukrainian president has even extended an invitation to Trump to visit Kyiv, emphasizing the urgency of ending the conflict.
Johnson’s column also addressed the apprehension of the “global wokerati” about a potential Trump victory and highlighted Trump’s interest in a free trade deal with Britain.
While acknowledging Trump’s controversial statements, Johnson emphasized the need for a US leader who can effectively deter threats to the western world.
