Cedric Bobo has launched a new program aimed at helping Black student-athletes transition into the commercial real estate companies”>commercial real estate market. The program, called Project Destined, teaches young students of color the fundamentals of finance, with a particular focus on real estate investing. Livingston, a former football player who graduated from the University of California, Davis, went into commercial real estate after completing the program. Bobo, a former Carlyle Group principal, founded Project Destined in 2016 primarily for high school students, but has since broadened it to colleges, seeing the opportunity for both internships and jobs before and after graduation.
Eager to recruit more Black student-athletes, commercial real estate firms have joined forces with Project Destined. The firms will provide internships and job opportunities to program participants, with the goal of increasing diversity in the industry.
