In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old investment banker at Bank of America passed away due to a blood clot. Reports suggest that he was overworked, putting in more than 100 hours a week. An executive recruiter revealed that the banker, Junior banker Leo Lukenas III, expressed his desire to leave the bank because of the demanding schedule.
The New York Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that Lukenas died from an acute coronary artery thrombus, a form of blood clot.
Douglas Walters, a managing partner at GrayFox Recruitment, shared that Lukenas mentioned his intention to quit Bank of America in mid-March due to the excessive workload. GrayFox Recruitment specializes in placing individuals in finance-related roles such as investment banking and private equity.
Despite their discussions about career opportunities, Lukenas, a U.S. Army veteran survived by his wife and two children, did not disclose any health concerns to Walters.
