Bald eagles believed to have been poisoned close to Minnesota landfill

More than a dozen lifeless or dying bald eagles have been discovered close to a landfill in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, suspected victims of poisoning by consuming carcasses of animals that have been chemically euthanized and dumped on the landfill, based on wildlife officers.

The University of Minnesota Raptor Center stated that on Dec. 4, the Inver Grove Heights police division introduced in a severely sick juvenile bald eagle that had been discovered within the snow close to the Pine Bend Landfill. Veterinarians suspected it had eaten from a carcass of an animal that was chemically euthanized with pentobarbital.
