The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia, Polad Bulbul oglu, has revealed Baku’s intentions to become a part of the BRICS alliance. This exciting news was shared by TASS, who quoted the ambassador.
“Numerous countries are eager to join BRICS, and Azerbaijan is one of them. We have expressed our interest in joining to our Russian counterparts, and discussions are ongoing,” he stated.
Currently, BRICS consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia. Recently, Malaysia has also applied for membership in BRICS.
This announcement comes just before President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to Baku on August 18-19.
Furthermore, Polad Bulbul oglu shared that he will be concluding his 18-year diplomatic mission in Moscow.
