Authorities have ⁢confirmed their desire‍ to ‍speak with the spouse of a Melbourne woman who was murdered and⁣ her body discarded ⁣in a wheelie bin.

The remains of 35-year-old Point Cook woman‌ Chaithanya “Swetha” Madhagani were ‌found in Buckley, southwest of Geelong,⁤ around noon on Saturday.

“Due to the seriousness of the⁣ matter, there ⁤is much⁢ we unfortunately ⁢cannot comment on as we don’t want to jeopardise the ⁢ongoing investigation,” she ⁣said.

“This ⁢includes ⁣information about any ongoing enquiries or⁣ liaison with any other agencies here in ⁤Australia or internationally, or any liaison with the victim’s family.”

It is understood ‍her husband travelled to India and ⁢left their son⁣ Arya, 3, with Swetha’s parents.
