Apple is facing allegations from the National Labor Relations Board regarding violations of employee rights to advocate for improved working conditions. The NLRB claims that Apple terminated an employee for using Slack to push for changes within the company, as well as pressuring another worker to remove a social media post.
This case originated from a complaint filed in 2021 by Janneke Parrish, a co-organizer of #AppleToo. Parrish was dismissed by Apple in October of that year over accusations of sharing confidential information, which she refutes. The complaint states that Parrish utilized Slack and public social media platforms to promote permanent remote work.
In addition to advocating for remote work, Parrish openly criticized Apple through letters, conducted a pay equity survey, and highlighted instances of discrimination at the company.
