President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of faster deliveries of vital US weapons to Ukraine as Russian forces continue to advance on the battlefield.
During a press conference in Kyiv with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Zelenskyy stressed that the speed of ammunition supplies directly impacts the situation on the battlefield.
He expressed the need for expedited processes in the delivery of supplies to support the Ukrainian army effectively.
Recently, the United States approved a $61bn aid package, raising hopes for Ukraine to replenish its critically low stocks of artillery shells in the fight against Russia’s invasion.
Stoltenberg acknowledged the delays in military aid from NATO members, highlighting the severe consequences on the battlefield for Ukraine.
He mentioned the increase in arms and ammunition flow due to the US aid bill and commitments from other countries like the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Stoltenberg anticipated more new commitments to further support Ukraine, emphasizing the significant impact it would have compared to the lack of support in the past.
Despite Russia’s dismissal of the impact of increased US weapons, the efforts to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities continue.
